However, to truly keep the effects of this harsh weather at bay, it’s important to adjust your skincare routine accordingly.

Dermatology Nurse Specialist Selene Daly (@selenedaly) shares her Top Tips for protecting skin through the winter months:

1. Moisturise regularly:

Use a gentle, hydrating moisturiser to moisturise your skin and prevent dryness, which can lead to redness. If you suffer from sensitive skin, look for products that contain ingredients such as glycerine, which gently hydrates and soothes irritated facial skin

2. Use a gentle cleanser:

Avoid harsh cleansers that can strip your skin of its natural oils and cause irritation. Opt for a mild, non-foaming cleanser specifically formulated for sensitive skin.

3. Protect your skin from UV light

The most common trigger for red skin (Rosacea) is UV exposure. Protect your skin by using a factor 50 with equivalent UVA protection in order to prevent flares. Rosalique contains a 5*-rated SPF50, protecting the skin from further aggravation caused by UVA and UVB rays. Continuous protection from harmful light rays will further reduce irritation and skin redness.

4. Avoid hot showers and baths:

Hot water can strip your skin of its natural oils and worsen redness. Use lukewarm water instead and limit your shower or bath time to prevent excessive drying.

5. Limit exposure to irritants:

Avoid using products that contain alcohol, fragrances, or other potential irritants. These can further aggravate redness and sensitivity. Instead, choose products that are labelled as hypoallergenic or specifically formulated for sensitive skin
